The 2nd edition of Gov Willie Obiano's Traders' Football Competition billed to begin May 2017 has already started eliciting excitements among the various markets in Anambra. As at Press time, Fides can exclusively report that over 20 markets across Anambra have begun registration with the Youth and Sports Ministry as well as the Traders Cup Committee.
Rising from their meeting last Wednesday in Awka, the chairman of the Committee, Rev Fr Coach Obinna Dike announced the following markets as having declared officially their interest to participate in the competition and have actually begun the registeration process.
The markets are; Igboukwu, Ekwulobia, Oye Uga, Nkwo Umunze, Main Market Onitsha, Afor Mbaukwu, Afor Orba, Ogboabada Head BridgeOnitsha, Eke Igbakwu Ayamelum, Eke Igwe Nteje, Nkwo Ogbe Ihiala, Building Material Nnewi, New Motor Spare Parts Agbaedo Nnewi and Eke Nibo market. Others are; Amalgamated Tyre Dealers Nkpor, Electrical Electronics Nnewi, Afor Nawgu Market, Ekeigwe market and a few others their data are being processed.
The Committee gave April 30, 2017 as the deadline for registration of markets and called on markets interested to go to the office of the Director of Sports Anambra State Mr Joseph Umudu to register. They can also access him on mobile number 08036794237.
The draws for the competition is expected in May. The 2015 edition saw the winners smiling home with One Million Naira.
