St. John Vocational and Technical Institute, Neni in Anaocha LGA of Anambra State marked her 10th Matriculation ceremony last Saturday, 8th April, 2017 and welcomed over 165 students to the Institute.
The Guest Speaker who is also the Founder and Chancellor of Tansian University, Umunya, Very Rev. Msgr. Prof. JohnBosco Akam commended the Management for the developmental strides the school has attained academic and structure wise. With this, he promised to contribute and support the Institution. He added by saying that prayers and hard work beget success.
Prof. Akam welcomed the students and charged them to be law abiding, make good use of their time and every opportunity that they have. He encouraged them to learn from the feat and successes of their predecessors and take their learning very seriously. The Msgr.cum intellectual guru enjoined the students to be ambassadors and a lime light of the Institute. Msgr. Akam who is so elated with regards to the number of matriculating students both male and female concluded his speech by saying “God is great and so wonderful”.
The Director of St. John Vocational and Technical Institute, Neni, Rev. Fr. FrancisMicheal Enyosiobi traced the foundation of the Institute to the Catholic Bishop of Awka, Most. Rev. Paulinus C. Ezeokafor and the Auxiliary, Most. Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye who during their tenure as parish priests of St. John's Parish, Neni, sought for and got the approval of the Institute in the year 2000.
As a way of building self employed people both in education and in skills, the Director of the Institute, Rev. Fr. FrancisMicheal (Fr. Jesu Nwannaa) said that the Institute is now being upgraded into College of Technology which will be officially launched/ inaugurated by the Catholic Bishop of Awka on Sunday, 21st May, 2017.
In view the added advantage the school now has, the Director said that the Governing Board is working assiduously to ensure the complete accreditation process of the Institute.
Fr. Francis recounted some of the successes the Institute achieved during his tenure as the Director. He equally appreciated the members of the Staff, Management Team and the Governing Board under the leadership of Chief Sir. Anthony O. Enukeme (Ezeani Aku- Uvom, Onowu Neni) for committed effort in ensuring the success of the Institution.
Some of the feat achieved in the school include; 38 compatible tiled bedrooms and toilets, 3 sound proof working generating sets, functional bore hole, Functional ICT Center with 44 networked computers, about 30 laptops, foundation of the uncompleted building in the school premises.
