St. Pius X Catholic Church Omogho in Orumba North LGA of Anambra State has celebrated 25 Years of its creation as a parish in the Catholic Diocese of Awka.
The Silver Jubilee Celebration which was held on Sunday, August 20, 2017 doubled with the maiden pastoral visit of the auxiliary Bishop of Awka Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Jonas Benson Okoye.
Bishop Jonas Benson Okoye at the visit blessed the statue of Saint Pius X donated to the parish by Mr. Austine Ganco and administered the Sacrament of Confirmation to over 100 deserving Catholic faithful in the parish.
Blessing the statue, Bishop Okoye thanked the donor, Mr. Austine Ganco for his think home mentality and advised others to always bring home their wealth to help in the parish development.

In his homily, Bishop Okoye praised the Catholic faithful of Omogho for staying through thick and thin in grooming their Catholic faith for the past 25 years of its creation. He noted that the structural development attained by the parish was evident in the growth of their faith, saying that it makes the worship of God more conducive. He described the Church as a place of worship for both saints and sinners alike as it presents equal opportunity to all.
He emphasized the importance of investing in God's vineyard, calling on the wealthy among the parishioners to help in the development of church structures rather than using the said wealth to cause havoc in the society. He tasked them to be persistent in prayers as God can do all things and never to allow life difficulties to separate them from God.
Bishop Okoye urged the newly confirmed faithful to develop deeper relationship with God as it would help them to be strong in order to defend the Catholic faith. He called on parents to be mindful of with what they do in the presence of their children as their negative attitudes could make or mar the children's development.
Speaking at the occasion, the Parish Priest of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Omogho, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Okpala said that the Silver Jubilee Celebration was to thank God for keeping the parish together as one big family for the past 25 years of its creation.

He explained that the celebration which was previously scheduled to hold in 2016 when the parish clocked 25 years following its creation in 1991 was moved to 2017 to enable the parish accommodate other parish affairs. He praised the bishop for his contributions in Awka Diocese especially in the on-going work at Peter University. He said that bishop Okoye's effort would make Peter University best among its equals.
In his opening remark, the chairman of the occasion, Onowu JBC Okoli thanked God and Bishop Ezeokafor for deploying Fr. Emmanuel Okpala to their parish saying that his stay had witnessed massive transformation and growth in the parish. He pleaded with the bishop to pick the best among priests in the diocese for continuous work.
Highlights of the occasion were planting of the Silver Jubilee Plant, cutting of cake, cultural display and presentation of gift to the bishop.
