Priests, parishioners, friends and well wishers of Ogbunka Catholic Community, on Sunday, August 27, 2017 filled St Monica's Catholic Church, Ogbunka, Orumba South L.G.A of Anambra State for a reception in honour of the newest and 11th indigenous priest of the Catholic Community, Rev Fr George Ndubueze Ekemezie.
The new priest, Rev Fr Ekemezie, who is the first indigenous priest of Agbala Village, Ogbunka, was on Saturday, August 26, 2017 ordained for the Catholic Diocese of Aba by His Eminence, Francis Cardinal Arinze, the Prefect Emeritus of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of Sacraments.
Leading in his First Solemn Thanksgiving Mass, Rev Fr George Ekemezie, thanked God for giving him a share in the sacred priesthood of Jesus Christ. This was even as he commended all who supported him throughout his formation to priesthood.

He appreciated his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Simon Ekemezie for encouraging him into the priesthood. Fr Ekemezie extolled the priests, refigious and lay faithful of Aba Catholic Diocese who graced his First Solemn Thanksgiving Mass, and prayed God to bless them abundantly.

In his homily, Rev Fr Francis Nwaora charged the new priest to be embodiments of virtues of humility and holiness of life worthy of emulation.
The homilist, who was Fr Ekemezie's formator during his priestly formation years, advised the new priest against ways of life that might defile the sacred priesthood of Jesus Christ which he represented.  He tasked Rev Fr Ekemezie on constant prayer life, obedience and discipline which he said were essential for his successful priestly apostolate.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Central Pastoral Council, Rev Fr Boniface Ubaka, thanked God for the gift of Fr Ndubueze Ekemezie which brought to 11, the number of indigenous Catholic priests of the community.
Ogunka Catholic Community through the address of welcome that was presented by Hon Chike Nwafor, thanked God for the successful priestly ordination of their son and brother, Rev Fr George Ekemezie.
The chairman of the occasion, Bar Emma Osunkwor thanked the parishioners for their support towards the success of the occasion, and prayed for God's abundant blessings on all.
Highlight of the occasion were presentation of a car and Mass box to the new priest by Ogbunka Catholic Community, even as other gifts from groups, individuals and families followed suit.
