The Catholic Bishop of Buea, Diocese of South West Region Cameroon, His Lordship Most Rev. Immanuel Bushu has ordained Rev. Anthony Chidebere Nwankwo as the first Deacon of the congregation of the Missionary Sons of St. Mulumba (MSM).
The first Diaconate ordination of the congregation took place at St. Matthias Catholic Church, Agulu during Bishop Immanuel Bushu's first visit to the Catholic Diocese of Awka on Saturday 14 May, 2016 the investiture of about forty postulates and first profession vows of two brothers.
In his homily, Bishop Immanuel Bushu stressed the importance of the spirit of God in individuals' lives, saying that the spirit of God was responsible for what one becomes in life. He called on Christians to imbibe the virtues of charity, humility and love in a bid to live a Christ like life. He tasked the congregation to live out the life of Christ in their various occupations as being disciples of God. This according to the catholic prelate entails self-denial and total acceptance of the will of God.
The catholic prelate described the investiture of the new postulates as a way of identifying the people who have decided specially to serve God in another capacity thereby increasing their rank as soldiers of God.

Bishop Bushu advised the new deacon to always bear in mind the reason for his creation by God and to engage in things that would enable him to make heaven.
Speaking after the ordination Mass, the Parish Priest of the host parish, Rev. Fr. Peter-Val Uzoezie thanked God for the investiture of the new postulates, first profession vows and diaconate ordination of the MSM as they are all pointers to the growth of Christian faith. He maintained that the events of the day made a new history in Agulu Community. He thanked the family of Bro. Maria Denis Okafor, Founder MSM 'Okafor Ezeaghalis' for the gift of their three children to the church. He praised God for the lives given to the new deacon who was involved in a car accident few days before the ordination.
In his remark, the founder of Missionary Sons of St. Mulumba Very Rev. Bro. Maria Denis Okafor thanked God for the success of the occasion and appreciated Bishop Bushu, Bishop Ezeokafor; the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese and the auxiliary bishop; Most Rev. Bishop Okoye for their love, care and support.

Speaking to Fides, the Secretary General of MSM, Bro. Koiosluchukwu Solomon Edeh described the occasion as a very significant one as it marks the consolidation of the foundation of the congregation. He noted that MSM through their family and youth apostolate enable the youths to appreciate the worth of their being in the light of the gospel. He described the congregation as a training ground for youths in a bid to achieve its aim of building strong Christian families in accordance with the faith of the church and maintained that MSM was open to those who have the intention of serving God in a special capacity.
