Broken down vehicles on road sides are no more to be tolerated by the Police
The Anambra State Police Command has directed all Divisional Police Officers and Divisional Traffic Officers in the State, to ensure immediate removal of all broken down vehicles along the major roads in their various jurisdictions. The directive from the Commissioner of Police, Mr Garba Umar, was sequel to a fatal accident along the Uli - Owerri Highway which claimed four lives, after the vehicle rammed into a broken down vehicle. A release by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Princess Nkeiruka Nwode, said henceforth those who abandoned their vehicles along the road would be charged accordingly, after the police must have removed the vehicles. The statement frowned at the level of recklessness of some road users in the state, describing it as unacceptable as the Command was fully out to clamp down on offenders. The release stressed the need to place triangular caution for broken down vehicles on the road.
