The founder and National Coordinator of AUMEN, Rev Sr Dr Mary Jude Therese Nwodo, IHM made this known at a press conference held at Archbishop Obiefuna Auditorium, Fides Communications, Nodu-Okpuno, Awka South L.G.A, Anambra State recently.
Addressing journalists, the reverend sister noted that the conference which has “Religious Instruction and or Moral Education, Complementing the Defining Differential Similarities for Development'' as its theme, is in collaboration with another NGO known as Students' Advocacy Against Destructive Attitudes (SAADA),founded by an Awka Diocesan Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Dr. Jude Onebunne.

Rev Sr Dr Nwodo, IHM said AUMEN which had gardening the mind for optimum development as its major aim, was made up of five arms which included education, health, family, environment and social sectors.
She noted that the association which is a member of the global Association for Moral Education (AME), which has 34 member countries, came on board to address increased societal ills which over the years dwindled development.
The national coordinator of AUMEN observed that the increased societal ills were due to little or no attention gave to gardening the mind, saying that Association for Universal Moral Education Nigeria in her advocacy tends to inculcate ongoing formation and education into the citizenry for that right action that would bring about development.
'It pays for people to be remembered for their virtues of integrity, truthfulness, gentleness and transparency in dealing with others. The trees we are planting today, if they are not well gardened, they will fall back on us. What we advocate is that the right formation be inculcated into every child, so that when he or she grows up, he will contribute to societal development', Rev Sr Dr Nwodo said.
Adding his voice to the mission of AUMEN, the National Coordinator of the NGO, Dr Kingsley Ubaorji regretted that a lot had gone wrong, because most people in the world sponsor vices and immoralities instead of virtues.
Ubaorji condemned the alarming rate at which many were addicted to pornography and politicians sponsor youths to carry arms instead of promoting positive youth empowerment. He called for all hands on deck to support AUMEN in her vision, to build a moral sane society.
