The members of the Nigeria Youth Volunteers Service (NYVS) in Anambra North, South and Central in Anambra State, converged at Emeka Hotel Amawbia, Awka South Local Government, on Sunday, July 2, 2017, for a one-day meeting. Mrs Adaora Nwayiribe in her opening remarks, thanked God for good health and prayed for protection and guidance during the meeting and also for knowledge, understanding, truthfulness, humility, wisdom and progress of the youth. In his opening remarks, the NYVS chairman, Prince Sunday Offorkaja (Nwagabueze), said that the organization was aimed at touching lives positively and empowering the people to become better citizens. He encouraged them to be strong and not look at what happened in the past years, asking them to prepare and be ready, by taking special care of what they do today, so as to reap in abundance tomorrow. Prince Offorkaja informed the members about the coming election in Anambra State and highlighted the importance of voter's card for good citizens, urging them to support, work, stand and vote for their candidates who is coming out for governor in Anambra State under (PPA), Mr Godwin Chukwunaenye Ezeemo, and from Umuchu, in Aguata LGA, of Anambra State. He noted that he is a man of his words and honour. Also, he inspired the youths through examplary life of discipline, humility and industry. He rose from a humble begining and through hardwork earned integrety and overcome poverty. He founded Charity Ezeemo Trust for the less privileged in 2006, which has granted scholarships to over 1000 indigent students. He empowered both youths, widows and developed young talents solely on his sponsorship. The Co-ordinator of the NYVS, Mr Peter Mario Anene, added that the Nigerian Youth Volunteers Service had been in existence for a very long time, but now effective in Anambra State, since 2014, during the former governor, Mr Peter Obi, who welcomed and supported them. He said that the purpose of the meeting was not because of the election, but because of the progress of the youth, and advised members to have one voice and mind. Mr Anene encouraged the members of the organization to always utilize their time and talents, also strive taking part in life charging opportunities through humanitarian services which include scholarship awards, employments, skills acquisition technology and fish farming etc, as the participants also have the privilege of acquiring equipments and materials after training as promised by Mr Ezeemo. Comrade Livinus Anthony said that Ezeemo “is a truthfully and trust-worthy man with good character who also accommodate people with good heart”. He advised them to support him because of his good work in government for the progress of the youth, and said that many candidates will come out for election but let them support Ezeemo for the benefit of Anambra State. Finally, Prince Sunday Offorkaja commended the entire members for all their useful advice, urging Anambra North, South and Central to join hands together to support Ezeemo for the coming election because he will not disappoint them.
