Hon. Francis Mmegbuanaeze
The member representing Idemili North in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Francis Mmegbuanaeze, has cried out to the Governor of Anambra State, Chief Willie Obiano, to rescue the residents of Owelle Aja Layout, Obosi, in Idemili North Local Government Area of Anambra State.
Speaking exclusively to Fides shortly after ascertaining the level of flood devastation in the area, Mmegbuanaeze, who is the House Committee chairman of Housing and Urban Renewal, said the damage caused so far by the flood had forced many residents to seek refuge elsewhere, noting that his constituents could no longer sleep once it rained.
The lawmaker said his constituents had lost property worth millions of naira to the menace, noting that he had no other option than to beckon on the executive for assistance.
'Just after yesterday's night rain, you can see the level of devastation. Look, many vehicles have been submerged. People's belongings floating on water. I was reduced to tears immediately I entered here. I try to put myself in their shoes. It's disheartening to say the least. Thank God, you are here today to witness it yourself. This is what my people face once it rains. No movement, no business, owing to flooding. I am calling on our listening governor to please come to our aid. My people are suffering,' he pleaded.
Mmegbuanaeze appealed to his constituents to exercise patience, assuring them that he would stop at nothing until something was done to ameliorate their plight.
