The famous Catholic Diocese of Awka-owned citadel of all round education, Tansi International College, Awka (TICA) will represent Anambra State in the national Mathematics competition billed for August 2017 in Lagos, Nigeria.
Tansi International College, Awka won the 1st, the 2nd and the 3rd positions in the finals of the Mathematics Competition organized for all the junior andsenior secondary schools in Anambra State by the Mathematical Association of Nigeria, Anambra State for the senior category.
In the finals of the competition that was held at Igwedimma Primary School, Amawbia, Awka South L.G.A, Anambra State on June 10, 2017, TICA that was represented by Cajetan Egbosimba, also won the 2nd position in the junior category.
Michael Ahanonu, Vincent Anadi and Chidiebere Nnaemeka represented the college in the senior category, and won the 1st, the 2nd and the 3rd positions respectively.
Reacting to the feat attained by the school, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese and the school proprietor, Most Rev Dr Paulinus Ezeokafor and the auxiliary bishop of the diocese, Most Rev Dr Jonas Benson Okoye in a separate chats with the TICA principal, described the success as a credit to hard work on the part of the management, the teachers and the students.
Bishop Ezeokafor, who was delighted over the news of the success which he received from the education secretary of Awka Diocese, Rev Fr Dr Sabastian Onuora, immediately he (the bishop) came back from his annual vacation, congratulated TICA principal, Rev Fr Paul Onyebuchi II on the historic feat recorded by the school.
The auxiliary bishop, Most Rev Dr Jonas Benson Okoye, said the success was an indication that the Mathematics teachers were doing well, and as such, deserve to be appreciated.
In an interview to Fides, the principal of Tansi International College, Awka (TICA), Rev Fr Paul Onyebuchi II, extolled the mathematics teachers and his students over the feat and urged them not to relax into celebration, but to double their efforts to ensure the school emerges the winner at the national grand finale of the mathematics competition billed for August, 2017.
The students were prepared and led to the competition by their Mathematics teachers who included Mrs. Christie O. Ntokah, the HOD; Morgan Oleka; Paul Nwokolo; Peter Nwokolo and Prince Ojini.
