In his homily of the Holy Mass which coincided with Good Shepherd's Sunday, the parish priest of St Cletus' Catholic Church, Otolo, Nnewi, Rev Fr Alfred Umeh charged fathers to be committed to their responsibilities, and like Jesus the Good Shepherd, see to the wellbeing of those entrusted unto their care.
Fr Umeh, who flayed fathers for abandoning their parental responsibilities to their wives said, 'Every father, like a good shepherd, should be ready to make sacrifices, discomfort himself and even give up his life for the wellbeing of his wife, his children and others entrusted unto his care'.
The Catholic priest, who further based his reflection on Acts of the Apostles Chapter 5 from verse 20 and I Peter 5:2, noted that fathers should be eager to look after their families and be role models for their children. He stressed the need for fathers to take good care of, feed, cater for and even risk their lives for their families and children over which the Holy Spirit made them overseers.
